Hello everyone! So as I’m sure you know, this past Sunday was the 87th Annual Oscar Awards. This is one of my absolute favorite award shows because not only is it all about movies, but it also pays recognition to the people we forget about who make the movie what it truly is. I also think the Oscars is one of the most prestigious award shows because it’s all about the recognition these wonderful filmmakers and actors get and not only about performances.
My absolute favorite part of not only the Oscars, but any awards show, is the red carpet. Fashion is something I am very passionate about because it’s all about creating and feeling good just from a piece of fabric. Like I said in my About Me section, I am a little fashionista. I am always the “go to” person about an outfit, which I am 100% ok with because I love it! So since I love fashion and the red carpet so much, I decided it’s only perfect to tell you who is on my best-dressed list. Personally, I think everyone did an amazing job this year and absolutely killed it, but there were a few that really stuck out to me. Now, if you didn’t get around to watching the Oscars red carpet or even the Oscars, I will post my favorite looks below so you can obsess over these amazing ensembles just like me.
What I really noticed while watching the red carpet this year was that nude colors were very in, which if you ask my opinion, I think this is going to be the color for Spring 2015. What’s great about nudes is that anyone can wear them because there are so many different shades that it’s very easy to find the right one to match your skin tone. Also, if you had the crazy winter like we had in NYC you want a subtle color and nothing too dark right before summer. Zoe Saldana looked so effortless and gorgeous in her dress that she didn’t need any jewelry to make this dress look good. Just a nice simple diamond necklace really complemented this gown because it focuses your eyes to the beautiful layering this dress had to offer. This was easily one of my favorite looks of the night. The beautiful Jennifer Anniston wore another gorgeous nude dress. Now personally, I think she can rock anything, but she looked exceptionally stunning in this dress. It had just the right amount of sparkle in the dress to make her glow. One of my absolute favorite dresses tonight was worn by Eniko Parrish. I am not sure if anyone saw this, but wow!; this dress was so simple, yet so gorgeous I can’t stop staring at it days after. I love how she pulled her hair completely back so you can just look at the dress and the simplicity of it. Her makeup and accessories really complemented this look and she worked it on the red carpet! Shining away from nudes, Kelly Ripa looked beyond stunning in her gown. It was a very simple, but elegant black dress that I can see being a big style for future red carpet events. Her dress had just the right amount of sparkle and she really glittered her way down the red carpet. Now my absolute FAVORITE look of the night was worn effortlessly by the beautiful Jennifer Lopez. Not only did she absolutely kill it in her Oscars dress, but also her after party dress was just jaw dropping. Honestly, Jlo has been absolutely killing it this year and if Sunday wasn’t proof enough, then I don't know what is. I tried picking which dress I loved more and I just couldn’t! They were both so gorgeous and that’s why Jlo was my best dressed for the night.
When it came to couples, a few really stood out to me. They not only complemented each other so well, but you can see how much thought and time went in to making these looks so perfect. First, I think we need to all bow down to the fantastic host Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka. I was absolutely obsessed with these suits because the cut of them was extremely unique, unlike anything we saw on the red carpet by other men. I loved, loved, loved the bow ties because I think they add so much character to someone and it just made this look a thousand times better. Next up, I would have to say Faith Hill and Tim McGraw looked absolutely effortless on the red carpet. First, I think she blew everyone away with her gorgeous new haircut. Normally I am not a fan of short hair, but I think she rocked it that I just fell in love with this hairstyle. Not only was their ensemble of a nude gown and traditional tux perfect, but you could see how proud she was of him to be performing such a meaningful and moving song that night. Now how could I forget about the handsome Channing Tatum and his gorgeous wife, Jenna Dewan. I absolutely loved this look—it was so well put together that they looked like an absolute vision walking down that red carpet. I LOVED how she complimented her white dress with a red lip because it really made the look pop in a very simple way. Her hair was so simple, but so beautiful and let’s also just talk about her gorgeous earrings. These made the look so perfect because the dress was very simple, but adding a simple accessory made the whole look come together. How can I forget about how handsome Channing looked! His tux was very traditional, but it was a perfect fit and a perfect choice for this event. Now, last but not least, my absolute favorite couple on the red carpet was hands down John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. I cannot emphasize enough how absolutely gorgeous this dress was. The baby blue color was unlike anything we have seen on the red carpet and so was the cut/style of the dress. I absolutely loved the slit up the dress because it wasn’t too much and it really showed off her long legs. I loved how the sleeves weren’t a tank or a spaghetti strap, but that she wore long sleeve and it was not too heavy. The breathtaking design of this dress looked so effortless and stunning that I literally have no words. On top of this gorgeous dress she wore a dark red lip that really made this look perfect. The dark lip wasn’t too much considering her dress was such a light shade. I think what really made this look work was that John was in a very simple suit which made her look come to life on the red carpet when looking at them both.
I realize this post was sort of long, but I lose track of anything when talking about fashion because I love it so much. I hope you enjoyed this blog come back Saturday when I talk all about my brunch on Fifth Ave in New York City!
Sincerely, Sam
