All I have learned, I learned from books...

Hello everyone! Today is such a gloomy day in NYC so it’s a great time to get cozy on the sofa with a nice warm blanket, a cup of tea and a good book. Recently I started reading a new book that I cannot wait to finish because it is just so inspirational. I picked out a few books for you all to consider whether  it’s a gloomy day, a beach day, or if you are going on a road trip or plane. These books are definitely something you want to consider and are some of my favorite books. The first book is a book by Lauren Conrad and it’s her Style book. Since I love fashion so much this is my bible. I have been a huge Lauren Conrad fan ever since Laguna Beach. She created an empire that she should be so happy about because she did a great job. Not only is she an incredible role model but she’s also an extremely humble and sincere person who I have met a few times. Her Style book came out in  2010. When I first heard she was coming out with this book I knew I had to have it because that was when I first started to love fashion. As I look back on it Lauren Conrad’s book really opened my eyes to the fashion world and made me love it so much. This book is perfect for anyone who loves style and fashion just as much as I do because it gives you the best ideas and tricks for the fashion world. They sell this book at any Barnes and Noble and I have also seen it at Target. I will post the books below so you know exactly what to look for next time you are in the book isle. To follow up her Style book she created her book of Beauty. Now personally, I don’t own this book (I will be purchasing it soon) but my best friend Jamie has it and she was kind enough to let me borrow it and give it a read. This book is perfect for anyone who loves makeup, nails, hair, etc. She gives so many good ideas about all this stuff it’s definitely an easy and perfect read if you are into any of those things. This book is also sold at Target and Barnes and Noble so check it out  and you will really enjoy it!

Another book I have been loving is Staying Strong by Demi Lovato. I really love this book for multiple reasons but mainly because I love the message it gives  to girls everywhere. What I have really noticed recently is how much peer pressure girls, teens and even women are going through because of what the media puts out. The media makes us feel that if we aren’t stick skinny or tall like all the models we see then we aren’t good enough. This is 100% wrong and I hate the pressure girls are under today to look a certain way. In the book she has this one quote that I really love so much. “Love is louder than the pressure of being perfect.” I couldn’t agree more with this. Demi has went through a lot to get to where she was today and I know she is so proud of where she is today because even though it wasn’t easy she didn’t give up and she tried. That’s all we need to do. TRY. Don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t pretty, skinny or tall enough because you are YOU and you are pretty great and you should always feel that. This book is great for anyone that needs to stay positive and stay strong because it really helps and changes your perspective on things. Go out and buy it because I promise you, you will certainly not regret it.

The last book, and this is the book I am currently reading, is called Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso. She is the founder and CEO of Nasty Gal. If any of you aren’t sure what Nasty Gal is basically it’s a website that sells vintage type clothing. I love this website. I always find myself stumbling upon it and falling in love with some of the different clothes that I see. What I love about this book is how inspirational it is. I heard a bunch of people talking about this book and I really wanted to get it but had the hardest time finding it because it kept selling out! One day my mom came home with it for me because she knew how much I wanted to read it and I stayed up until 3 am reading it because it is such an amazing book. I haven’t met one person who hasn’t raved about this book and talked about how inspirational it is because honestly I don’t think anyone can hate this book. Honestly I cannot emphasize enough how much I think everyone needs to read this book so please if you see it pick it up and give it a read. I promise you that you will love it and you will recommend it to everyone. Like I said it was hard to find but I found more recently it’s becoming easier to find because it’s not brand new anymore so you can find this at any Barnes and Nobles or your local book store. These four books are perfect for reading on the beach, on your sofa or really just anywhere because they are such easy reads and also they aren’t so big that it’s a pain to carry around. If you pick any of these books up please be sure to let me know how you like them because I would love to discuss these books with someone! Also if you have any suggestions for some books I should read let me know! Be sure to come back next week when I talk about what’s in my makeup bag. Trust me you won’t want to miss that! I hope everyone has a great weekend and can’t wait to talk to you soon!

Sincerely, Sam
